In the summer of 2016 we served over 55,000 meals to kids and teens. Summer means fun time for many families and children. When school ends, however, many children must transition abruptly from desperately needed school provided meals. The Des Moines Area Food Bank helps fill the gap by preparing and providing nutritionally dense lunches and snacks for kids 1 to 18 years in local neighborhoods, parks, libraries, and schools. This program is supported generously by United Way of King County, United States Department of Agriculture, and local food producers and businesses.
