Emergency food service for those in need in the city of Des Moines, Washington, most of Seatac, and the west hill of Kent, Washington.

Occasionally there are special events or projects held outside the food bank. This includes the popular Letter Carrier's Food Drive held each year the day before Mother's Day. There are also times each year we have groups take on team bagging of beans and rice. If you are interested in helping, please contact us and we will put you to work!

We need volunteers to help with our Summer Meals Program to prepare lunches and snacks that are delivered to sites around the community to feed hungry children. You can drop by in summer weekday morning at 9:00 am to help. We also are looking for volunteers who can help our summer staff serve these lunches and snacks on a weekly or daily basis. If you can help once a week or more, please contact us!

We do accept some volunteers who need to fulfill court ordered community service hours. Please contact us for more information.

Volunteers are welcome to come into the food bankany week day morning at any time between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm. A variety of jobs are available, including sorting food, greeting clients, restocking the food line, breaking down bulk items, sorting produce, unloading trucks, office filing, etc. If you would like to volunteer, just come on in and we'll put you to work! Check our FAQ for our location.

We also have volunteer hours available one evening each month. The 3rd Tuesday, from 5:30 pm to about 8:15 pm.

In addition to the many odd jobs available, we are currently in need of one regular volunteer to help on the food line each Friday morning. We are also in need of substitute drivers. If you can make this a regular commitment, come on in and we'll put you to work!
