Volunteer
Opportunities
Volunteers are welcome to come into the food bank any week day morning at any time from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A variety of jobs are available, including sorting food, greeting clients, restocking the food line, breaking down bulk items, sorting produce, unloading trucks, office filing, etc. If you would like to volunteer, just come on in and we'll put you to work! Click here for a map and directions.
We also have volunteer hours available one evening each month. That is the 3rd Tuesday of the month, from 5:30 until 8:15 pm.
In addition to the many odd jobs available, we are currently in need of one regular volunteer to help on the food line each Friday morning. We also in need of substitute drivers. If you can make this regular commitment, come on in and we'll put you to work!
Occasionally, there are special events or projects held outside the food bank. These include events such as the Letter Carriers' Food Drive, held at local post offices the day before Mothers' Day each year (pictured above). There are also times that we have groups take bulk items such as beans or rice to be bagged. If you are interested in helping with a special event, please contact us for more information, and (you guessed it) we will put you to work!
This summer we will need volunteers to help with our summer meals program. We will need help preparing lunches and snacks that will be taken to sites around the community to feed hungry children. You can drop in any weekday morning at 9:00 to help. We are also looking for volunteers who can help our summer staff serve these lunches and snacks on a weekly or daily basis. If you can help once a week or more, please contact us.
We do accept some volunteers who need to do court ordered community service hours. Please contact us for more information.
